Knowing Your Strengths

I have been giving whether to write my journey or not much thought in the past few weeks. As such, I have decided to continue doing what I have started after the Caylum experience to show fellow traders one clear track on financial stability – it is not just all about trading. As I have been presented with the tools and understanding with how to trade properly, I wish to help everyone who will read this blog with something more basic – how do I build up my capital for trading. As I have written in the article “The Paradox of Time in Caylum“, I plan to improve my cash flows even further by creating a new personal fund stratification – 25% for my trading capital, 25% for my free cash and emergency funds, and 50% for my expenditures. Anything in excess of my expenditures adds up to my free cash and emergency funds. Why do this? Because I am starting the road to $30,000, the optimal amount needed to be allowed to day trade in the foreign broker I plan to use to trade global equity markets.

This week has been pretty much crazy with all the opportunities flowing in. I have been diligently working in the past eight weeks to find points of opportunities to any possibilities that arise in my way. I believe this is pretty much my Activator, Strategic and Connectedness Theme working together. As an activator, I can clearly see that my elevator pitch skill set plays a significant role in allowing me to think outside the box and quickly think of solutions for people I just met. Likewise, I believe that we have common points of interest and background (connectedness theme) that I can use as a springboard tot allow a person to be interested with what I do. However, with all the probabilities and how the other party may react to what I say, I use my critical thinking skills in selecting the most optimal path to get a person interested with what I do (strategic theme). The use of my strengths that I capitalized strongly as I get to know myself better after completing the 34 CliftonStrengths Assessment led to close out not just one, not two, but four deals this week – Two projects on Social Development (Corporate Social Responsibility), One Speaking Engagement Project, and One International Speaking Engagement and IT Solutions Management Project. Of course, this is not something that happened overnight. These opportunities involved weeks of interactions, constant communications, strategic negotiations and business development to ensure that I become the best fit for their needed projects.

Another side to this story is establishing my stronghold – the corporation I wish to establish. For this to happen, I have been blessed with the right people to connect with and work to ensure this becomes a reality. I think my Connectedness, Relator and Arranger themes made a large role in paving the way for the initial progress of my plans for setting up a corporation. As I see that everything that happens and everyone I meet in life is for a reason or purpose, I connect with their dreams and aspirations through my Relator Theme. One significant person I believe has stepped up from being a person I meet for a reason to a person who can potentially become someone I meet for a lifetime as a co-incorporator. I saw through his own aspirations to realize his trading dreams and we share the same goals in life, though through different means. Hence, I use my Arranger theme to ensure that we start working on how we can jumpstart the capital and resource build-up for the corporation while we both walk our own level-up paths with the opportunities presented to us at present.

As I wish this series to be functional, I will write down my score card here so you can also do yours and walk the path I am trying to secure for myself. You may have your different means of doing things, but this will ensure that we grow together and you see that we start from scratch towards our trading and business endeavors. Use your strengths to the fullest and be the person you aim to be.
