Five People I Met in Caylum

“There are five people you meet in heaven. Each of us was in your life for a reason. You may not have known the reason at the time, and that is what heaven is for. For understanding your life on earth. This is the greatest gift God can give you: to understand what happened in your life. To have it explained. It is the peace you have been searching for.”
― Mitch Albom, The Five People You Meet in Heaven

As we end Week 5 in the Recruitment Course, we started doing a deep dive over Trading Systems and how to execute these systems in our paper trades. However, little do we know that our groups have evolved since Day 1. As I highlighted in my previous post, communities are important in ensuring that we progress in our own trading journey. Thus, I came to appreciate the impact of the five people I met here in Caylum – My Learning Team.

BWT Discussions with Team White Walkers

Isles reminds me of one’s drive. As young as he may be, I can see his desire to put his plans into action and the determination to realize the vision he has in his mind. Amongst all of us, he is the most active to still do actual trades in the Philippine Stock Exchange and I admire him for his willingness to undertake such feat. Not everyone I know has that tenacity to act upon his action items despite our ongoing lessons. I learn from him the value of taking action on the things that matter to you the most.

Tudor resonates with him the importance of validation. People often mistake validation as a negative trait, but this attribute reminds me how important it is to check upon other’s perception vis-a-vis your own perception. This action prevents you from developing tunnel vision and helps you see the world from another person’s lenses. Not everyone I know has the courage to admit that they may be wrong or making mistakes. I learn from him the value of acknowledging dissenting views on your world views, including what you see in the charts.

Tess perhaps personifies one’s conviction. Her vast live experience and stories can be clearly seen with how well she takes certainty on plans she got manages to decide on, and take full accountability over it regardless of the outcome. I see that she can decide on matters without hesitation once she puts her mind into things. Not everyone I know has the courage to execute plans and stick by their plans when the circumstances call for it. I learn from her the value of believing in yourself despite what the markets may bring upon you on your trades.

Leo emanates with him the one’s cautiousness. He puts a premium on avoiding preventable scenarios that may lead the group to undesirable outcomes. He does the same for this trades, and such composure is important to manage his risks when trading. Such trait is important to incorporate on your trading plans to ensure that you are only comfortable of the money you are risking before doing any trade, and that you have full control over the “trading demons” that you may encounter in the midst of trade executions. Not everyone I know has he wisdom of calling a square a square when all odds are against you. I learn from him the value of risk management as you deal with your portfolio health and daily trade plans and executions.

Dan, our trading coach, radiates one’s selflessness. Despite his tasks on the trading floor and personal life, he still manages to give time answering our queries and concerns throughout recruitment course. There has been no single day that he did not respond to our queries, helping us throughout the way refine our trading plans and ideas. He makes time to even meet us outside the coaching session time to mingle with us or address our personal concerns. Not everyone genuinely offers his time and resources to others as Dan would for us so as we grow in our respective trading journeys. I learn from him the value of helping others unconditionally – one that void of expectations and pure desire for everyone to grow positively as you have received the same kindness from your mentors.

Indeed, I have met wonderful people in this quest to learn more about how one can professional execute trading. Caylum Trading Institute’s Recruitment Course has been able to deliver beyond my expectations and I still believe that it is worth the learning investment you would put to it. It is even more amazing to meet such wonderful people who will help you realize important life values that may just be like low hanging fruits right in front your face waiting to be harvested. Ultimately, we have yet three weeks to “breakout” from the norms that previous batches has ended up with. I believe we can do better as a batch in fortifying a community that will become a stronghold for our individual trading journey while capitalizing on each of our strengths to boost our optimal trading performance in the months to come.
