CTI Recruitment Course – The First Two Weeks

The first two weeks with my Recruitment Course with Caylum Trading Institute has been a very interesting one. From starting with the course fresh from high-grade fever to being able to adjust with all the readings, activities and new perspectives, we finally to really get to engage with each other in Batch XI! The end of the fundamentals thesis mark a new journey for the 31 blossoming traders in this class.

I admittedly have been worried that we do not get to engage as much with one another, but this turnaround of events was just what pacified my worries. We are starting to become a team and everyone is starting to become more open with the possibilities of a team-based approach. Yehey! 🙂

Nonetheless, the first two weeks has been really filled with wonderful realizations as we thread through Module 1: Market Sentiment and Module 2: Fundamental Analysis. If there has been one major realization I got to introspect, I had the skillsets and prior conditions with me all along to maximize my trading potential. Ultimately, the mix of exposure in the business realm through Asian Institute of Management to the business consulting and auditing engagements helped me see stock trading from the perspective of the business owner, valuating business decisions of top management and seeing through how this can affect my trading strategy. Indeed, I see the wisdom behind the trading and business experience that Edmund Lee and Leonard Chua have been accumulating over the years. They have developed insights leading the somewhat similar to what we call a “clinical eye” in the medical field. It is just amazing to see that trading all along is not really a “blind hit-miss” approach (or what laymen call as chart-chart lang). Each business has a narrative to tell and it really rests on the ability of the trader to discern how much of this narrative to incorporate on his intention to trade each stock.

I can’t wait to see what the next module has to offer to us. For now, I start with my paper trading journey with the Global Markets 🙂
