A Taste of Malang: Bakso Solo
When I travel places, I find so much connection with the rich culture of a place through its food. It has been really interesting how much unique traditional food Malang, Indonesia has to offer to its visitors. I have been offered many types of food throughout my stay here. I can, however, say with confidence that this dish in a specific store has been my favorite by far.

Bakso Solo Kidul Pasar, located at Jl. A. Yani No.57, Purwodadi, Kec. Blimbing, Kota Malang, Jawa Timur 65126, is perhaps the most homey atmosphere I have ever felt while here in Malang. It gives me off that vibe while I am in Intramuros, Manila eating along the food shops near our University.

Each bowl of this delicious meatball fusion costs Rp 18,000 (about Php 65 as of Nov 30, 2019) with a ton of wonderful flavors and interesting texture. The fried dumpling on top provides a wonderful crispy bite with beef filling waiting for you to discover as you devour in each bite. The tofu, hiding behind the dumpling has a soft and chewy bite as it has also been filled with ground meat. The bakso, or meatballs, have different texture and is oozing with flavors in each bite. And who will make a mistake with the clear broth soup that is packed with flavor that punches you in the face saying how delicious it is. The umami in this soup is just out of this world.
Definitely, this is my personal favorite in Malang. A must visit when you are around the area.
